There has been a little while since we have heard anything truly remarkable from the Bang & Olufsen stables but the winds of change have turned and they have announced the release of the Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 5, a self-contained digital music system.

Apart from the bass, the biggest thing about the Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 5 is it’s remote, all 10 inch LCD and 2.65kg of it. You can even wall mount the thing or let it make your glass table give it a quivering look. Slightly less obtrusive than the screen, the remote is dominated by an aluminium scroll wheel you could use to drive with.

The engine of the unit of the BeoSound is the BeoControl 5, an internet connected server capable of storing upto 500 GB of tracks and orchestrated by Bang & Olufsen’s More Of The Same (MOTS) automatic playlist generator.

All this high-tech goodness can be yours come March 2009 for a measly £3,500 ($5000) so start saving now and when you can afford to get a Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 5, give us the money, we’ll buy one and let you know whether or not it’s any good.
