shape_up Alarm Clock

The Shape Up! alarm clock is a cool novelty gadget but getting fit and shaping up is a bitch. We all know it. Waking up in the morning is an even bigger bitch with bad breath. Who in their right mind would put the two together? It’s like a nightmare menage-a-trois of epic proportions.
.
Not to be discouraged by this seemingly insurmountable obstacle of putting two disliked things together, Yuk Wang has thrown caution to the winds and crafted the Shape Up! alarm clock. A dumbbell with an alarm clock embedded.
.
This novelty infernal gadget forces you to do several reps (30) to switch it off every time the alarm goes off. No more 10 minute snoozes for all you sleepy heads. You have to get up out of you cosy nest and work your muscles into silencing the annoying racket produced by the Shape Up! alarm clock.
.
No information as yet on the weight of the dumbbell or price but I’m sure we all know a gym-freak or two who can’t wait to get their hands on one of these Shape Up! alarm clocks for their not so healthy significant other. If you’re more into training your mind thatn your body first thing in the morning then you may want to try the Rubik’s Cube Alarm Clock for some mental stimulation…

Of all the electronics from the flat panel tv to scanners and printers and car audio, the most amazing and cutting edge invention is that of a dvd.

Revo power generating exercise bike

Revo power generating exercise bike

The idea of exercise bikes that generate energy had been around for a while but nothing solid has yet hit the market. The Revo power generating exercise bike by British designer Tim Maughan is another concept in the same vein but with designs like this, the market may come calling sooner rather than later. GadgetHeat likes to work up a sweat from time to tim and the Revo makes is just a little but more worthwhile when you know that you are also gaining power to use in all your other gadgets.

The Revo power generating exercise bike allows you to charge an attached battery while peddling for about 2 hours at medium speeds. The batter can then be used to power your laptop, hand-held device or stereo for up-to 200 Watt hours which isn’t bad for a bit of exercise. You can even attach your laptop to the exercise whilst exercising, charging as you go.

The battery also acts as data storage unit which you can attach to you PC and upload your speed/power output to a website and compare with others or access graphs and trend data.

Will the Revo power generating exercise bike ever hit the market? With the fuss about the greater need to be Eco-Friendly and conserve our energy supply, the Revo power generating exercise bike or a similar item cannot be far from hitting the shop shelves for real.

Play Tennis Like a Soviet Blond

mana

These days if you’re not 6 foot plus, blond and Russian you can forget being number one in the world of women’s tennis (and if you’re a man come to think of it). The hours of practice they put into their sport would make you cry into full-fat milkshake like a little boy. The cost of employing one of their iron fisted coaches would require a second mortgage at the least.

Fret no more, Sophie Horton has designed the perfect accompaniment for all you tennis buffs who want to put in a few hours work without the aid (or expense) of a coach. The Mana (don’t ask us about the name) is designed to improve muscle strength in the arms of squash an tennis players whilst simulating a common training drill called ‘ghosting‘.

mana 3

The Mana is attached to the racket and calls out areas of the tennis/squash court for the player to run to in order to hit the imaginary ball. The weight of the Mana can be adjusted to suit the need and ability of the player as can the vocal settings of the call.

No word as yet as to when the Mana will be on sale but with Wimbledon coming up, I’m sure that someone will pick it up pretty quick…

Powerball Pro

GadgetHeat Rates the Powerball Pro 7/10

This is the new phenom sweeping the exersice world. If you believe the hype (and we hate hype) one of these is bought worldwide every 36 seconds (which means in about 10 minutes we’re all going to be under a whole heap of balls…).

We love all gadgets so we decided to give this one a chance. In essence, whilst the advertising promises it will do everything from improving your cardiovascular system to make you tea in the morning, the Powerball Pro works primarily on building wrist and arm strength. Read the full story
