The GV-MACTV is currently only available in Japan. Yes, I thought I would get that sentence out of the way to dash your hopes early. This digital television tuner is attached to your Apple MAC via USB and controlled via the Apple remote to give you true fuss-free digital television on your desktop.
The Mac TV, or to give it its full name, GV-MACTV from IO-DATA, is much like a digital set-top-box for your MAC and comes with a B-CAS slot card (B-CAS being the Japanese standard for encrypted broadcast trasnmission).
There are other ways for getting digital television on your Macintosh but IO-DATA has made the GV-MACTV the easiest by far. Heads up for when it hits the US and European Markets….
As if carrying your iPhone around in public didn’t make you enough of a target for your local hoody (and as if there wasn’t enough iPhone accessories), Russian iPhone specialists gPDa.ru have made it even easier for you to attract attention by creating iPhone mods that light up the ‘Apple’ logo on the back, and give it a bright glow.
Cool? Perhaps for high-school kids who want to be the shiznit with their customized iPhone but we all know that the kind of flies this will attract are likely to be pretty big and menacing. If you had any sense you would take the GadgetHeat advice and use our recommended paper iPhonealternative (it’s free and not nearly as risky…).
The iPhone mod to make your Apple logo glow won’t be available for a while but when it is, expect the street-crime rate to rise significantly….Video and pics below.
All things Apple are cool at the moment and with the impending release of the new iPhone, the temperature is about to drop some more (if you want the new iPhone for free and before everyone else gets it, GadgetHeat has the perfect solution).
.
Jumping whole-heartedly on this bandwagon is the iPod USB by boysstuff. You can get this in a 2GB or 4GB versions for $40 and $50 respectively and what do you get for your money? A cutesy USB with a squeezy cover and a greater affiliation to what is possibly the gadget of the century, iPod (saying that though, you should check out our current gadget of the year, the R2D2 DVD projector).
.
The iPod USB stick is USB 2 compatible for speedy transfers and it’s pretty cutesy so what more do you want eh?
What’s the difference between the iTouch and iPhone? Not ver much according to the JVC NX-PN7.Yes, one has a phone but if you had an iPhone, would you get an iTouch and vice versa? If you’re an Apple fanboi we already know your answer so sit back down please and stop blocking the view.
.
The JVC NX-PN7 has been launched for this rare (or not so rare - let us know) combination of consumer who loves everything Apple. The JVC NX-PN7 is a dual speaker / dock system that can house both gadgets at the same time - as opposed to docks which can take both but on alternate occasions. It can also house two iPhones or two iPods at the same time for the gadget heavy family…
.
Being a dual speaker dock is not its only function, the JVC NX-PN7 also has video output for watching videos stored on your iPod / iPhone on your TV, boast an AM / FM tuner and also functions as a clock (well, you wouldn’t expect anything Apple related to be one dimensional would you?). You can pick up The JVC NX-PN7dual dock for $147.
Like everyone else GadgetHeat is scheming on ways to get their 3G iPhone for free when it is release on July 11th. We know that some of the bigger blogs like endgadget and gizmodo already have their ‘complimentary’ review Apple 3G phones winging their way to them as we speak so until we get our ghetto gadget pass, we’ve just got to be a bit more creative.
Enter the BigChief 3G iPhone Paper cut-out. All the looks and features of the iPhone (well not really) but at the fraction of the price (can’t get better than free) and available right now!
Just cut along the doted lines and you’ll have your brand spanking new 3g iPhone (paper cut-out) in your back pocket faster than you can say ‘this is how we roll in the ghetto’.
GadgetHeat has a stock of 200 BigCHief paper iPhones for sale at $1 each if anyone is interested….
OK we’ve all known they’ve been coming and at long last they have arrived. The Apple 3G iPhone has been officially revealed by Steve Jobs at the WWDC and GadgetHeat have got the pictures to prove it.
The main features of the iPhone 2.0 are of course the 3G capability (why this wasn’t available on it’s first release we’ll never know), the price - that’s right folks it starts at a ‘mere’ $199 for 8GB and $299 for 16GB and the Apple 3G iPhone works with third part applications from the get-go.
Apple has also introduced A-GPS which is supposed to be a superior GPS system (GadgetHeat will soon see how superior when we take it through it’s paces. Stay tuned for a detailed breakdown of all the applications that come with the Apple 3G iPhone by signing up to the GadgetHeat feed). Battery life stands at 300 hours standby, 8-10 hours of 2G talk, 5 hours of 3G talk, 7 hours of video and 24 hours of audio.
The nicest thing for the fashion conscious is that the 3G iPhone 16GB version will also be available in white (not red as in the fake pictures we saw a while back).
The phone is slightly thicker than it’s predecessor and also dispenses with the use of a dock and simply uses a USB power adapter.
The Apple 3G iPhone will be available in the USA and 21 other markets from 11 July (those 21 being Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK).
Got an iPhone or iTouch? Into free games? If the answer to both those questions is yes then this post is for you.
Japanese video game developer Hudson Soft have just opened the doors of a free games portal of iPhone and iTouch users. Although this is a Japanese company and initiative, the portal is accessible to anyone who owns wither of these devices simply by going to touch.hudson.co.jp.
The range of iPhone and iTouch games offered at the moment is limited but no doubt will soon expand and they also offer a selection of free downloadable movies. Most of the Apple iPhone and iTouch games are pretty simple memory and match challenges but some do feature Bomberman and there are also a few poker and blackjack games if you like that sort of thing for your iPhone or iTouch.
We all know the when it comes to (legal) MP3 downloads iTunes is still king but Napster refuses to lie down and is launching a digital Music Store to rival the Apple giant. What gives Napster, the nerve to do this? We find out…
Well for a start the service they offer will be free from copy protection and DRM (the technology that prevents tunes downloaded from iTunes being on played on anything other than iPod technology). Secondly, the Napster venture has 6 million songs at launch making it the biggest on-line MP3 store in the world (look over your shoulder iTunes….).
Napster is being tipped for success because music industry execs want to see a reduction in the power of iTunes which is dominating the market and some say stifling it as well. The Napster service will also be fully compatible with iTunes and be able to synch to a users existing library. Pricing is 99 cents per song and $9.99 per album which is pretty standard as legal MP3’s goes.
The geeks (pot calling kettle..) over at gizmodo have confirmed what we all knew. The Apple 3G iPhone will be formally introduces to the masses at the WWDC keynote on June 9th. It was previously thought that the new iPhone would be available at the years end but it will be available immediately worldwide after the formal launch in June.
I’m personally 50/50 about iPhones. I think their too pricey for what they offer and tying you into a two year contract is not appreciated by the GadgetHeat staff. That being said, there will no doubt be added goodies to go with the 3G functionality that have yet to be revealed by Apple (they love to tease).
After the generally negative response to their sales practice last time round (i.e. tying you to a particular provider in order to get your iPhone, fixed price for handsets etc), Apple have revised their worldwide partnering policies and it looks like the new phone may be available on multiple networks or tariff options at the same time which is good for those of us who want to get one…
Yes we know this is only a fan-art concept and the stuff of our dreams to boot but the Apple iWish would sell like hot-cakes if it was ever released onto the market.
With a sleek design, QWERTY keyboard and a million applications this is a christmas present shortage waiting to happen. The iWish is a never gonna happen mis-mash of a SONY PSP and iPhone. If anyone knows any of the bigwigs at either SONY or Apple, get them to take a look at this post…
