The new Lenovo IdeaPad Y Series Notebooks, namely the Y450, Y550, Y650 all have one thing in common. They don’t suck. In fact, they don’t suck very much. These notebooks weigh less than 6 pounds (5.6) and are a mere 1-inch at their thinnest point.
At 14,15 and 16 inches respectively, they all pack near identical features including 16:9 aspect ration wide-screen display, 4GB memory and a reasonable 500GB HDD. They also come with NVIDIA GFX graphics (optional), surround sound and face recognition technology. The Y650 16-inch notebook also comes with JBL speakers and automatically adjusting screen brightness levels courtesy of an ambient light sensor.
Available in March the Lenovo IdeaPad Y Series Notebooks will cost you (starting prices) $829 for the Y450 and Y550 and $1,199 for the IdeaPad Y650 . Looks like 2009 may be Leveno’s
year afterall…
