Hive Audio System - Moves The Crowd

The Hive Speaker by Christopher Stuart is a wireless outdoor speaker with a novel design. Forget your conventional rectangular box, the Hive Audio System has a translucent bell-end (^^) at the top with a block base bottom for outdoor stability.

Sound is amplified by the sound tube bell-end and reverberates as it pumps up the volume. No mention on Christopher Stuart’s website as to when the Hive Speaker will go into production (if ever) but as soon as it does, not doubt it will be a summer BBQ favourite.

Although the style of the speaker caught my attention, the best looking wireless speakers I have seen this year must be the Sony Ericsson MBS200 and MBS400. Pretty ain’t the word….

USB Crystal Speakers - Clear Sound

Tags: , , ,

USB speakers are ten-a-penny but add some crystal and they bump up the price. These USB Crystal Speakers from thinkgeek look like little blocks of ice sitting on your desktop and under 2 inches (1.6 inches to be precise) they claim to be the smallest stereo speakers you can get your hands on for your PC or laptop.

Able to ouput crystal clear audio frequencies, you can get your own set of USB Crystal Speakers for $40 but at only 1watt per channel, don’t expect ot be bumping those beats too loudly…

sony_sautina_glass_speaker_11

Surround sound is old hat- Sony have officially conformed the release date (20th June) of their non directional speaker, the Sountina NSA-PF1. This thing looks like a ready to go light-sabre but is in fact a self-contained speaker system ready to fill your room with bass line no matter where you put it.

The Sountina NSA PF1 (catchy name) is a six foot tall omni-directional speaker mainly built from organic glass with a vibration range of 50 to 20,000Hz. The tweeter is also made of organic glass unlike the 13cm - Sub Woofer and the 7cm Mid (If you have small children who like to touch stuff then I’m guessing that the Sountina was not built with you in mind).

The standard range of digital and analogue inputs are included including RCA, digital coax and optical TOS. You can also input up to 24bit/96kHz stereo linear PCM. As an added sweetener for those of us who like shiny-shiny gadgets the Sountina NSA PF1 comes with a super slick aluminium remote control which is customisable to your environment via the colour LCD’s and comes in black or silver.

If you have $10,200 burning a hole in your pocket and don’t mind picking up your goods from Japan give SONY a call and they’ll hook you up.
