The Sony XB (Extra Bass) headphones certainly look dark and moody and with the extra bump in the trunk, should go down well with everyone from hip-hop to house music heads. If you like to be deaf by the time you take your headphones
off then this is for you.
The Sony XB Headphones series have five variations. Three of which are over-ear headphones and two in-ear pairs. The entire series is touted to deliver the lowest ever bass designed to ‘recreate club ambience with powerful, ultra-low bass response’. The three closed type headphones (MDR-XB700/500/300) have king-sized ear cushions to reduce noise-leakage (and keep you snug in winter too ^^).
The in-ear MDR-XB40EX and MDR-XB20EX Sony XB headphones feature a ‘direct vibe’ acoustic design in order to minimise sound spillage.
Available from March 2009, SONY have kept quiet on the pricing of the XB Headphones but we’re thinking they will be somewhere in the range of expensive to unaffordable.
