The Sidekick LX 2009 has been a long-time coming and we have had glimpses of the handset, also known as the Sidekick Blade

, a few months back courtesy of strategic PR leaks. The day has finally arrived however and the Sidekick LX 2009 will be on general release on May 13th 2009. Roll on.

The specs are much what we have expected, no WiFi but a host of other apps, connectivity and functions that will make this the stand out handset of the Sidekick range. The Sidekick LX 2009 comes with a 3.2-inch VGA display(not touchscreen), GPS, 3G data and integrated Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and MySpace applications. Genuinely one for the social-network generation with availability on pay as you go mobile broadband

plans. On the hardware side we have a 3.2 megapixel AF camera with LED flash, microSD expansion with an included T-Mobile 1GB card straight out the box, video recording and playback, stereo Bluetooth, quadband EDGE, and HSDPA 2100 high-speed internet access for our European friends.

The Sidekick LX 2009 is definitely a snazzy piece of hardware but it does still have the traditional plastic Sidekick feel to it. Available in “carbon” (black) or “orchid” (maroon), the May 13th release date will see a lot of fans of the current iteration pick up the Sidekick LX 2009 , along with a few new admirers as well.
