VOIP is nothing new but the handsets have been ugly beasts from day one for some reason. This new VOIP handset concept is the 2008 IF, IDEA, and Red Dot awards winner and is named the Tatung. On looks alone, the Tatung concept handset pretty much wipes the floor with the internet phoncall competition.
The Tatung VOIP handset only has one button and no screen. For a phone you would think that this would be a drawback but in the world of design, this is what you call ‘thinking outside of the box’.
Designer Nova Design removed all unnecessary features (how does a screen become unnecessary?) but left in key functionality such as touchscreen, Bluetooth and wireless connection. Using VOIP to make phonecalls has never been so easy and now, the Tatung means it has never been so stylish.
