The new Nintendo Wii game, Popstar Guitar, is the Wii’s own version of the Rock band and Guitar Hero franchises that have been such a phenomenal success (unlike Wii Music ^^). Popstar Guitar comes with yet another funky Wii pheriperal, the AirG.
Wii being Wii had to do things slightly different and the Popstar Guitar AirG eschews the usual toy guitar accessory in favour of a ‘case’ for you to slip in your Wii remote to turn it into a guitar simulator. The AirG Guitar features four (colorful) fret buttons rather than the traditional guitar shaped imitations you usualy get with music games.
The Wii AirG (apart from looking a bit cheap to be honest), fits handily into your palm allowing you to strum along to Popstar Guitar like the rock legend you know you are.
Popstar Guitar will retail for about $60 and will include tow AirG Wii Guitars when it goes on sale in the coming months.

Nintendo Wii likes to be a trendssetter and not a follower but even it couldn’t help jump on the current bandwagon by releasing the Wii Music, a rival to Xbox’s 360 Rock Band and Guitar Hero series. The Wii Music allows you to use any existing Mii’s that you may have created in your new Rock Band and to play with family and friends
.
Will Wii Music be to music as Wii Sports was to exercise? Who knows but GadgetHeat is sure that it will be a big hit this year. Rock Band and Guitar Hero somewhat stole the march on Nintendo with this one but if the past 20 years has taught anything, we know that Nintendo is good at playing catch-up.
.
Wii Music will allow you to use other Nintendo Wii accessories including the Wii Board, MotionPlus and Wii remote with even greater dexterity than you can do now. Look out for the Wii Music from late 2008 onwards. GadgetHeat as the feeling that this is going to be a massive hit…

The Wii has finally been granted a microphone to allow on-line opponent to hurl politically incorrect chit-chat at each other from the safety of their front-room. The Nintendo WiiSpeak microphone was unveiled at E3 along with the new Wii remote, the Wii MotionPlus.
.
The WiiSpeak microphone will be attachable to your television screen and pick up sounds to relay on-line (how it filters out background noise from that distance is yet to be seen). The first game to utilise its capabilities will be the every so cute Animal Crossing: City Folk due to be released later this year.
.
On-line slanging matches are usually dominated by teenagers with potty-mouths so GadgetHeat reckons the WiiSpeak microphone may be a gateway to tarnishing the Nintendo Wii’s wholesome family image. The other drawback of the WiiSpeak is that it is not wireless. With everyone and their mama (i.e. SONY and Microsoft) implementing wireless technology in the consoles, we’re surprised that the Wii hasn’t followed suit.
.
The WiiSpeak is expected to retail for $30 (£15) and will be available later this year.

Motion Control Gadgets
It’s hardly been a secret the Nintendo were intending on revising the Wiimote and at E3, they finally let the cat completely out of the bag with the unveiling of the Wii MotionPlus - The next gen Wii remote. The Wii MotionPlus will be shipped with Wii Sports Resort when it is released an promises to take motion control to the next level.
.
Imagine finger tip control (or wrist control ^^) that actually recognises every subtle movement you made, that’s the bold claim of the Wii MotionPlus. GadgetHeat wonders if this doesn’t take the wind out of the sail of the ‘Darwin’, xBox 360’s answer to the Wiimote.
.
Nintendo claim that the Wii MotionPlus brings 1:1 sensing to the Wii (whatever that means) allowing you to have even greater control over Wii games like Wii Sports Resort. E3 looks as tasty as ever and with gadgets like this, GadgetHeat is busy looking for a press pass…

Ok I want a Wii but I don’t want to piss my money away (boom boom). Carphone warehouse are offering a free Nintendo Wii with any new contract on selected phones. Personally i would love a Wii but i’m not too keen on taking out yet another phone contract to pay for it especially when on average they are asking for £45 per month when these days the standard is £35 (unless you’re an iPhone slave / customer).
Still, I know there are ways the consumer can win if they are not too fussed about the phone they get when they initially take out the contract.
They take out the contract, then sell the handset offline to discount some of the term of the contract then keep the Nintendo Wii free and the sim they received with the contract in their old phone (assuming that their old phone is unlocked for the relevant network). There are some decent phones available so if you pick the right one you can get a good price for it on ebay or the like.
For example, the Sony Ericsson W910i is going for about £185 on eBay, Carphone Warehouse is offering the phone free at £45 per month for 18 months plus a free Wii. That’s £810 over the term of the contract minus the £185 you got for flogging the phone so you have £625 to pay off over the 18 months which works out at aroud £35.
A better deal would be to take out the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 which is going for about £250 - £300 on eBay. Carphone Warehouse is offering this at the same £45 per month over 18 months whicch means you can reduce your overall bill to £530 if you manage to get £280 for the BlackBerry Peal on ebay. This reduces your monthly cost for the contract over 18 months to around £30.
It all depends on how much you want a Wii really and whether or not you think getting a new mobile contract is worth it. Carphone Warehouse state that if you order by the 6th you’ll get it before christmas but even if you get it afterwards a Wii si still a Wii. Added to this is the fact that Nintendo are only intending to produce 1.8 million of these hot cakes per month for the whole world which is ludicrous.
