benq-s6-mobile-internet-device
The world-wide release of the BenQ S6 Mobile Internet Device is imminent and GadgetHeat has the scoop on the specs of this super-surfing bad boy. The BenQ s6 comes with a whole raft of features including compatibility with multiple multi-media formats, an inbuilt G-sensor and the usual connectivity package of Bluetooth, WiFi and HSDPA.
The Italians were the first to get their hands on the BenQ S6 but now folks all over the world can enjoy the free-surf feature packed interface which is pretty nifty as can be seen by the video below - check it out.
OK we admit, calling the Nokia BMW Video Phone the ultimate cell phone is a bit premature but we got to say how good it looks.
Of all the gadgets we see, I know concept phones come and go (like the SONY Ericsson HandyCam phone which nobody seems to have picked up on) but the Nokia BMW Video Phone is one concept cell phone that deserves to become a reality.
The phone has a feature called push to open which turns the phone into a HandyCam (yes, just like SONY Ericssons concept..) making it dual faceted.
In truth, the coolest thing about the Nokia BMW Video Phone are its looks, sexy as a BMW 6 series…..Don’t expect details on price or release, you’ll only disappoint yourself as even the coolest of concept cell phones rarely see the light of day
Despite being simple, the Ballpoint Pen Cellphone Charger is probably one of the most useful gadget we have seen in a long time.
Every body (with a job) carries a pen and a cellphone to have a pen that can be used to charge your cell phone is a no-brainer.
Packed within the pen are chargers for Nokia Handsets (both 2.5mm and 3.5mm), SONY Ericsson, Samsung and a USB charger.
Typical charge-time for a full charge is 100 minutes and for that the Ballpoint Pen Cellphone Charger can give upto 2 hours talk-time per charge and 30 hours standby. Not bad from a gadget that runs of a single AA battery.
At $18 from Brando, the price won’t burn a hole in your pocket either and if you are one who likes a good chat, the Ballpoint Pen Cellphone Charger could just what you were looking for.
As far as Microsoft cell phone concepts go, we personally prefer the xDream that was touted around earlier this year but this new Zune Contact cell phone concept by Adam Huffman is’nt too shabby either.
5 mega-pixel camera, ultra-slim design and of course, the pre-requisite touch screen make the Zune Contact a rather pretty bit of wishful thinking.
The Contact even has a big white cushion at the bottom of the handset as a useful thumb-rest to keep your sticky fingerprints off the screen.
If Zune ever do get round to making a phone (and there seems to be something definitely afoot) then they could do far worse than giving Adam Huffman and his Zune Contact cell phone concept the once-over…..
Maybe girl-power is back on the rise but with the girly Canon E1 Powershot recently released and now the Motojewel, Motorola’s new mobile phone handset which is obviously aimed at the female market, us boys are feeling a bit left out (well, not really but we like to complain).
The Motorola Motojewel comes in a fetching chipped clamshell design with a translucent phone surface that allows you to see the screen underneath when required (much like the LG Shine). Exclusive to the Carphone Warehouse UK, the Motojewel doesn’t just rely on its good looks, it also packs some rather decent technical specs.
Not only does it have a rather swift Linux-based operating system, but the Motorola Motojewel also packs touch sensitive keys, stereo Bluetooth for improved sound and a dedicated music player button access.
You may be wondering, where’s the girly side then? Well if you can live with oh-so-pretty design of the Motorola Motojewel, you may not be so enamoured with the carry-case it comes with containing a vanity mirror and space for make-up.
Still if they renamed it something like the ‘MotoRock’ for example, and stuck it in a snakeskin wallet, we wouldn’t say no…Video and pictures below.
GadgetHeat likes the idea of mini projectors simply because we hate carrying the bigger ones around, especially if you have a laptop and briefcase to lug around too so this mobile phone projector concept already looks like a winner to the GadgetHeat staff.
Our current favourite was the Aiptek Pocket Cinema v10 which is pretty small but this mobile phone projector design by Min-Sun Kim looks to be our new favourite as it combines the use of a cell phone with an embedded projector and we love multi-functional gadgets.
This opens up a world of possibility such as the ability watch all those movies and videos stored on your cell phone by projecting them onto a wall or other surface giving you a big screen experience from small-screen media. With a few more adapters and thought into the design, it could even be possible to play your mobile games this way.
The designer Min-Sun Kim has even taken into account the overheating and battery strain the mobile phone projector would no doubt come across. The projection system is made out of miniaturized video components that allow for minimal light interference and uses the latest battery technology to solve the power issue.
This is one mobile phone projector concept that GadgetHeat definitely hopes sees the light of day.
The buzz around upcoming flexible cell phones has been around for a while now with a few concepts from Motorola even floating about. GadgetHeat was going to wait it out until something more tangible was revealed but once we saw this concept we just had to let our readers in on it. It’s not just flexible, it’s foldable…
The cell phone (named Packet) is a foldable mobile phone designed by Emir Rifat. Whilst not yet in production, seeing as how the big cell phone makers are seriously looking into distinguishing their handsets by design and innovation, it won’t be long before this gets picked up by one of them.
The keypad looks a bit fidgety and will no doubt be refined once it goes into production but the rest of it looks incredible. When folded the Packet is simple an almost flat square shape on which you can see the time and any messages you’ve received.
Once you open it up the keyboard expands to either side of the square and a screen pops up on top. It looks like a gadget James Bond would be proud to hold. Keep your eyes on GadgetHeat and we’ll bring you news when this goes into production.
Looks like Nokia can’t stop innovating new phones and it’s latest babies the Nokia 5320 and Nokia 5220 are no different. The Handsets only requires the sweet sound of your voice to select a track and begin playback. If you whisper ‘ice Ice baby’ the handset will blast the classic poetic lines of that hip hop legend Vanilla Ice. The dedicated audio chip also means that the sounds will not be the usualy tinny crap that that you hear from 17 year olds on the back of buses up and down the country playing the mobile mp3’s for everyone to hear.
The ’say & play’ feature will work for any of the tracks you loaded onto the Nokia 5320 / 5220 and with 8gb of space, that’s about 2000 tracks at your disposal. This is where it gets tricky, out of 100 tracks asked for, the handset will get it right about 80% of the time. The other 20% it will question your dialect and ask you to enounciate (cheeky b*stard). After the runaway success of the N95 it was only logical for Nokia to step things up a gear. The upcoming Nokia N96 is the logical next step for the N series mobile phone. This 3g Smartphone packs all the features of its predecessor but with a bigger punch and without the glitches (the N95 OS was excruciatingly slow to load on occasion)
Looking at the pictures we can see that Nokia have decided to continue the sliding candy bar shape that it is becoming increasingly fond of and whilst no marvel of technological design, the N96 still looks like a pretty tasty cell phone. The 2.8 inch screen boasts sixteen million colours so watching movies and playing games on it will present no problem.
It’s Dual Slide like its n95 sister but with a much glossier look. It also bears a strong resemblance to the n81 so that gives an indication of where Nokia is heading in the design stakes.
The built in memory stands at 16gb which is significant for a smart phone and it also has the capability to take Micro SD cards for some added oomph.
One thing that has not been upgraded from the n95 (much to our surprise) is the quality of the camera. With so much of the N96′s energies going into being a camera and media savvy cell phone, it is surprising that it only packs a 5 mega pixel camera. This may sound like a lot and I know that some of you will be scratching your heads at the complaint but given the steps forward in all other aspect it seems a shame that this particular feature seems to have been left behind.
On the plus side for those who rely on their mobile phones for internet access when they are out and about is the built in RSS reader - great for blogs!. Not surprisingly the buzz around this phone is ridiculous and it will be another hot seller for Nokia this year. All in all, the Nokia N96 is a nice forerunner to the highly anticipated Nokia Tube….
Nokia is getting to be the big dawg (if it isn’t already) of mobile phones. I know that I personally only ever buy / upgrade to Nokia’s although that is more to do with the ease of navigation of the user interface rather than anything else.
The Nokia N82 Titanium is a departure from the current trend of phones in that it is a ‘candybar’ phone rather than the ubiquitous slider and flip phones and it is fully loaded with all the bells and whistles usually associated with the aforementioned slider and flip phones (without the huge advertising campaigns - N95 anyone?).
