GPS PSP - Satelite Navigation By SONY

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

These days GPS is being added to everything leaving stand-alone GPS units such as the 3D Navman and the Garmin Nuvi having to get cleverer and cleverer in order to stand out from the pack. SONY has decided to compound their misery even further by releasing the GPS add-on for the PSP, and has now hinted that GPS games for the PSP may soon be on their way as well.
.
GadgetHeat has no idea how a GPS game would work but it does sound pretty cool and according to John Koller over at SONY, developers are thinking much more about how they can integrate GPS into their games for the PSP.
.
All you Final Fantasy and RTS fans will never get lost on those huge maps again once GPS is fully integrated into PSP games. The rest of us, who just want a cool GPS, will be happy with the add-on that allows us to turn our PSP into a fully functioning GPS that can play games. Sweet.

WiiSpeak Speaks Up For Nintendo

Tags: , , , , ,

The Wii has finally been granted a microphone to allow on-line opponent to hurl politically incorrect chit-chat at each other from the safety of their front-room. The Nintendo WiiSpeak microphone was unveiled at E3 along with the new Wii remote, the Wii MotionPlus.
.
The WiiSpeak microphone will be attachable to your television screen and pick up sounds to relay on-line (how it filters out background noise from that distance is yet to be seen). The first game to utilise its capabilities will be the every so cute Animal Crossing: City Folk due to be released later this year.
.
On-line slanging matches are usually dominated by teenagers with potty-mouths so GadgetHeat reckons the WiiSpeak microphone may be a gateway to tarnishing the Nintendo Wii’s wholesome family image. The other drawback of the WiiSpeak is that it is not wireless. With everyone and their mama (i.e. SONY and Microsoft) implementing wireless technology in the consoles, we’re surprised that the Wii hasn’t followed suit.
.
The WiiSpeak is expected to retail for $30 (£15) and will be available later this year.

Got an iPhone or iTouch? Into free games? If the answer to both those questions is yes then this post is for you.

Japanese video game developer Hudson Soft have just opened the doors of a free games portal of iPhone and iTouch users. Although this is a Japanese company and initiative, the portal is accessible to anyone who owns wither of these devices simply by going to touch.hudson.co.jp.

iphone

The range of iPhone and iTouch games offered at the moment is limited but no doubt will soon expand and they also offer a selection of free downloadable movies. Most of the Apple iPhone and iTouch games are pretty simple memory and match challenges but some do feature Bomberman and there are also a few poker and blackjack games if you like that sort of thing for your iPhone or iTouch.

haze mini-review

Our good friends over at PlaystationHeads.co.uk have put up a hands-on mini-review of Haze that you may want to check out before going out and splashing the cash on the game. We had one eye on the launch of this game as it looked pretty tasty from the screenshots we had seen and there were thoughts that this was going to be a Halo for the PS3.

Let’s just say that things aren’t always what they promise to be and it looks like Metal Gear Solid 4 still has a great chance of being on of the PlayStation 3’s defining games…

Enter the DarkSide - 3D Retro Gaming At Its Best

darkside

darkside

We love a shoot-em-up at GadgetHeat and, in a nostalgic moment, I’ve been thinking about getting myself a good scrolling space blast-em-up for a while. DarkSide came to my rescue and it’s a blast from the past with a great modern day twist.

Think of your favourite scrolling space blaster from back in the day (Asteroids springs to mind), pimp it out to the max and you get ‘DarkSide - ArcLight 2′. It’s made by Pieyegames, an independent video games maker with a great reputation for making classic games (two of their games made the top 10 independent games of 2007).

DarkSide is a SciFi 3D shoot-em-up that takes you through 100’s of varied levels of strategy and blast-em-up glory (yes I said hundreds!). The variation in the gameplay plus the gorgeous graphics is what makes this such a blast. Pilot your ship through the solar system as you battle the Krainian Empire in a fight to gain independence for your people. There are three game modes including full-on Arcade mode which really brings back the 80’s heyday of space blast-em ups but in an even bigger and brighter way.

This game is freaking awesome to look at in 3D and with lifetime updates is a steal at $20 from Pieyegames. You can also download the demo to see what we mean by freaking awesome!! by the way, the Smart Bomns will make you wet your pants…

Here at Gadgetheat.com we like a good video game just like anyone else but don’t have much time to play it :(. However, we do have time to find some cheats and Easter eggs to speed up progress ;)

Yes yes we know. What’s the point of playing a game if you are going to cheat your way through it? Our answer, it’s a game! Relax and have some fun. Just don’t save your progress after entering some of these cheat codes or discovering these pigeon and easter eggs otherwise you’ll miss out on some of the acheivements (and rightly so, cheaters never prosper as they say…).GTA IV Read the full story
