Skullcandy Lowrider Headphones Review

Read more about this post at GadgetHeat.com

OK we know, long-time-no-see etc but we’re back with the Skullcandy Lowrider Headphones Review. Why? Don’t ask why just don’t look a gift horse in the mouth…..

Big, ear-muffin headphones have been in the spotlight for a while now and who are Skullcandy to buck a trend? Skullcandy ratings and reviews remain consistently high, product after product so we had high hopes for the Skullcandy Lowrider Headphones.

These highly portable headphones can fold-up into your jacket pocket no sweat and are equipped with a 40mm speaker which although produces an undeniably quality sound, it can also be heavy on the bass on occasion.

The headphones are iPhone/iPod compatible due to the 5mm jack and can also fit a wide array of other mp3 players. The only major drawback we came across was their size. Yes we know we lauded them for being highly portable but therein also lies the problem. They are can-style headphones with smaller than average cans meaning you get plenty of sound leakage and can’t really get into that ‘audio-zone’ as you can always make out noises around you.

For the average, casual listener this flaw of the Skullcandy Lowrider Headphones may not be a big no-no but for the dedicated audiophile, meh.

I feel elated that Klipsch has finally announced its new Pro Media Speakers for sale. It has been designed with much flexibility so can be used even with a laptop and also wirelessly.

Klipsch Pro Media Speakers needs power provision and so the speakers and subwoofers need to be plugged to power mains for it to work. It also has a USB dongle for the wireless connectivity.

Klipsch Pro Media Speakers are now available for as little as $199 but sales are only in the US for now.

One wasn’t really sure if Onkyo ND-S1 ipod dock would be shipped soon but I am pleased to inform you that the Onkyo ND-S1 ipod dock is getting shipped around the world although there are a few people who have criticized some of its features.

The quality of its output isn’t that superb although you can notice significant improvement from the sound produced when the ipod is connected to the speaker system. For a price tag of around £144 ($235), we would have expected something a little better from the Onkyo ND-S1 ipod dock TBH.

If you are more concerned about the quality of output then you may want to make use of other approved speaker systems than the Onkyo ND-S1 ipod dock but you many have to forgo the benefits derived from the use of itunes.

The guts are made from an old iPod mini and when everything was put back together, you get an authentic fully working wooden iPod mini complete with wooden iPod accessories.

The Wooden iPod Mini’s accessories include a charging dock and a wooden iTrip mini. That’s what you call craftsmanship. We would hate to see what would happen to the wooden iPod mini if you left it in the rain but we’re guessing the effect would be the same for a normal iPod mini with added fungus…..

Like the Apple Shuffle, the Speedo LZR Racer comes without any display (you couldn’t see it underwater anyway) and has basic audio controls such as play, stop, volume controls, and track controls.

Available in Japan from, er, now, the iRiver Speedo LZR Racer Aquabeat will retail for ¥12,800 ($128). No Stateside or European release has yet been announced.

Not shy of making a quick buck, the Skullcandy Snoop Crusher headphones are Snoop Dogg’s latest business venture and he has Skullcandy (and a little bit of friendly rivalry with Dr. Dre) to thank for it.

Based on Skullcandy’s popular Skullcrusher headphones, the Snoop Crusher headphones come in Snoop’s gang colors of blue and black and in a bandanna design. Forgive us for sounding like the American Right, but is it OK to promote gang culture these days? Yes? OK then.

The headphones come with two 30mm neodynium magnetic speakers and two mini-subwoofers. Don’t get your wallet out just yet, you will have to wait until June to fork out £64.99 for a pair of Skullcandy Snoop Crusher headphones.
