CinemaView displays » Non-Apple Mini Display Port Display
|
The Collins America CinemaView displays are the first non-Apple displays to be built incorporating the Mini Display Port. Now this is a niche product within a niche (Apple compared to other hardware vendors) but the kicker is that the Collins America CinemaView displays will be a darn sight cheaper than Apple’s version of Mini Display Port LCD’s.
The CinemaView displays owe a whole lot (actually they owe everything) to Apple’s design bods and come in three sizes – the $299 1440 x 900 19-inch, $399 1650 x 1050 20-inch, and $499 1920 x 1080 24-inch displays. All three feature 3 USB ports, passthrough stereo audio ports, an all-in-one cable.
The PR says they’ll be available ‘before 1st September’ but we’re hedging our bets towards the end of the 3rd Quarter before we see the CinemaView displays on sale.
