HTC MAX 4G Cell Phone – GSM/WiMax Handset
|
The HTC MAX 4G Cell Phone is the worlds first GSM/WiMax Handset and has been labelled 4G (take note iPhone). The only downside? No one but those East Europeans (think Russia) have a WiMax network developed enough to carry it.
The HTC MAX 4G comes with 8GB of flash memory, Windows Mobile® 6.1 Professional, a whole raft of connectivity options including VoIP, Wi-Fi®: IEEE 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth® 2.0 with EDR and HTC ExtUSB™.
Sounds great and all, but you have to laugh when you see the description of the HTC MAX 4G camera as ‘high quality’. It’s the kind of language usually reserved for manufacturers of more doubtful quality who use words like ‘refurbished’….
Looks-wise the HTC MAX 4G is an extremely cool looking handset and bundled with the speed of the WiMax network, when it finally hits US and the rest of the EU’s shores, GadgetHeat smells a hit coming.

I watched one of the videos (though it was in Russian and I didn’t understand much) and it looked quite smooth for a Windows Mobile powered device. You could watch many TV channels on it and it looked pretty good. I don’t think you can do that on 3G networks,or at least not at that speed and video quality. WiMAX seems to be a winner when it comes to wireless video applications.
