Now that it has no competition, Blu-Ray manufacturers are going all out when it comes to Blu-Ray players and the Denon DVD-3800BD Blu-ray Player has arrived at the very top-end of the spectrum.
The Denon DVD-3800BD claims a world first by using the 10-bit Silicon Optix sxT2 version of the HQV Realta chipset to provide the DVD-3800BD with what is currently the highest resolution HD video via an 1.3a HDMI connection.
Wait, it gets better. The Denon doesn’t skimp when it comes to sound either. It packs a DDSC-HD audio output, dual 32-bit floating-point Burr Brown DSPs, AL24 processors and Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoders.
That’s a lot of technology underneath the sleek exterior and the Denon DVD-3800BD Blu-Ray Player even comes with a front panel SD card slot. The price of all this goodness we hear you say? £1600 for our UK brethren and around $2000 for the Yanks. Out in December, start saving.
That’s awesome. I’m interested to see what the real difference in output is to the PS3. For that much money, I’d expect it to be huge. I’ve actually been working with Warner Home Video on some blu-ray projects so I’ve been watching blu-ray’s nonstop lately.
Yeah it looks pretty high-spec but I wonder if consumers aren’t just paying a premium due to the brand.
The average person cannot really tell the difference between the medium and high spec Blu-Ray player offerings and unless you watch an awful lot of Blu_ray movies, the money could probably be better spent else where
