Nikon D700 – Canon Beware!

1 July 2008 1,057 views 3 Comments

Nikon have released their D700 DSLR camera, their answer to the Canon D5, and, as answer go, it looks like the right one. The Nikon D700 is a full frame 24×36 DSLR Camera packing a 12mp CMOS sensor and even GPS tracking (what you need GPS on a camera for, GadgetHeat doesn’t know!).

The Nikon D700 has a whole heap of functionality including autofocus, scene recognition and D-Lighting so you can take those picture perfect shots. The D700 is even HD compatible with HDMI out and full res 5 to 8 fps (and believe me, we’ve only touched the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the full list of feature that the D700 packs).

Will Canon be worried? At the moment the G9 is one of the top selling cameras on the market and they have plenty more where that came from so in the meantime they’ll just be watching Nikon’s space to see if the Nikon D700 really is a force to be reckoned with…

With a GPS as a travel photographer you can record exactly where the picture was taken. there is some great mapping software that allows you to pull up the location of the image. if you want to return to a country of specific spot to try to get different lighting or different season you now have a record of your images and where to return. Not a big deal with most people, but great if you average 10,000 images a month.
