This is the new phenom sweeping the exersice world. If you believe the hype (and we hate hype) one of these is bought worldwide every 36 seconds (which means in about 10 minutes we’re all going to be under a whole heap of balls…).

We love all gadgets so we decided to give this one a chance. In essence, whilst the advertising promises it will do everything from improving your cardiovascular system to make you tea in the morning, the Powerball Pro works primarily on building wrist and arm strength.

Billed as a ‘hand gyroscope’ the Powerball Pro glows brighter the faster you spin it and the Pro version also has an LED that lets you store and compare your times. Do it right and your hand will look like you’re holding a fireball (streetfighter anyone?).

Ryu Fireball

The inbuilt rotor generates extremly high torque increasing resistance as you spin your wrist. In terms of exercise, it’s probably more of a workout than Wii-Sports ever will be and in all fairness can provide tangible benefits in terms of wrist strength and hand movement.

This is a definate fun way of getting extra bits of exercise without having to go to the gym or even leave your couch (as long as no-one is sitting right next to you). The Powerball 250 Hz Pro can be quite addictive and threaputic even if you do not have exercise as your key aim.

It starts of weight a little more than a tennis ball but at high speeds can weigh more than 40lbs and the Powerball 350 Hz Metal Pro for serious gadget and exercise fans weighs up to twice as much and is definately not for kids.

There are loads of Powerball Pro models to choose from so if youre into holding fireball (and getting your exercise in front of the TV) then this could be your bag
